Juventus Star Likely to Re-Up After Getting Summer Bids

Manuel Locatelli is among the several Juventus players that could get an extension in the coming months. He’s already tied to the team until 2026. The management is plotting to add one extra year to his deal. His salary is in the middle of the pack team-wise. He earns €3M per year.

According to TuttoSport (via OneFootball), the midfielder was in demand in the summer, but he and the club didn’t entertain a potential departure.

In particular, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, and Brighton inquired with Juventus about the availability of Locatelli. However, things didn’t progress past the very early stages. The Seagulls’ coach Roberto De Zerbi made no secret of being a fan of the player, whom he coached for a few seasons in Sassuolo.

On the other hand, the 25-year-old is a boyhood supporter of the Bianconeri and plans to stay long-term. He recently returned to the Italy squad under Luciano Spalletti following a falling out with Roberto Mancini.

Our Take on Juventus and Locatelli

He didn’t live up to his price tag, €30M, and didn’t emerge as a leader in trying times, but he’s still young-ish. His start has been promising. He’d benefit from playing in a more dynamic role, but that doesn’t appear to be in the cards since they didn’t sign a regista. Nicolò Fagioli might transition to that role at some point, freeing him up, but the process has yet to start.
