Juventus Star Szczesny in Advanced Talks with Al-Nassr

Wojciech Szczesny is very close to transferring to Al-Nassr, as Juventus have decided to bring in Michele Di Gregorio this summer. The Pole repelled the Saudi advances last summer. However, he seems to have accepted his fate, as his team is eager to move on.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the suitors tabled a two-year contract. The goalkeeper is open to negotiating, unlike in the past. He’d reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo if the move went through.

Al-Nassr proposed €19M annual wages to Szczesny, The Athletic reports. The Saudi side will soon start bargaining with Juventus, which want to sell but also would like to bring in some cash. The deal should move quickly and be completed before the Euro.

Per Tuttomercatoweb’s Mirko Di Natale, the Bianconeri ask for €5/6M to part ways with the veteran goalie. They’ll finalize the Di Gregorio signing shortly after offloading one shot-stopper. Mattia Perin is set to stay put and renew his contract despite the interest from a few Serie A minnows.

Our Take on Szczesny, Al-Nassr, and Juventus

His situation is different from many players that went there in recent windows, as he’s in the twilight of his career and was clearly expendable for his club, but it’s one further confirmation that a monster salary can make everybody change his mind. The Old Lady will save a lot on his wages regardless, but the higher the fee, the better for them. They aren’t haggling with a penny-pinching outfit but probably won’t push their luck.
