Juventus Still Chasing After Napoli Forward

Juventus might consider adding a striker in January under the right circumstances and are still monitoring their old target Arkadiusz Milik, Goal.com’s insider Romeo Agresti reports. Even though the contract of the of 26-year-old Polish striker will expire in June, Napoli are asking for €15/18M and are not interested in potential swap deals involving, for instance, Federico Bernardeschi. Milik’s entourage will shortly arrive in Italy to take stock of the situation.

The Bianconeri wanted to acquire Milik in September before switching their attention to Edin Dzeko, Luis Suarez and ultimately Alvaro Morata as it turned out to be too difficult to close the deal with Partenopei. Milik’s proposed move to Roma, instead, fell through at the 11th hour and the striker was then frozen out from the squad, thus failing to appear so far in the season.

Our view

While it would not a bad idea for Juventus to add a third-string striker to toss in in late-game situations and occasionally relieve Alvaro Morata and Cristiano Ronaldo, Milik is probably overqualified for the role and surely too expensive given his contractual situation. The tumultuous relationship between the two clubs further complicates the negotiation. Since the Old Lady has been keen on the Polish striker for a while, it would not be surprising to see him join them for free at the end of the season unless he can find a solution that satisfies all involved parties in January, but Napoli would likely need to lower the fee for it to happen.
