Juventus Still Eyeing Zaniolo, Roma Earmark Real Madrid Star

Even though there has been little movement on such front in the last few weeks, Juventus haven’t completely abandoned the idea of signing Nicolò Zaniolo. The Bianconeri had eyed him early but then gave up due to his price tag.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Old Lady are confident of acquiring Leandro Paredes and Memphis Depay soon. The agreement with PSG could be swift once Adrien Rabiot accepts Manchester United’s courtship. The midfielder might join on an initial loan. Instead, the Dutchman is negotiating his release from Barcelona. The parties are discussing previous wages and other outstanding matters.

Since those acquisitions wouldn’t be too pricey, Juventus might decide to invest in Zaniolo, especially in light of Angel Di Maria’s thigh injury. The Roma attacker was close to Tottenham in a €50M move, but José Mourinho reeled him in. The Bianconeri had previously tried to onboard him through swaps, which the Giallorossi repeatedly declined.

As per Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, the capital side would consider purchasing Marco Asensio if their starlet departed. The Real Madrid winger was on Milan’s radar. However, his wages and cost were too high for them. His contract with the Galacticos runs out in 2023.

Our Take on Juventus Pursuing Zaniolo

It wouldn’t have been shocking if it happened in June, as they had been setting the stage for it for almost a year. Instead, it would be quite stunning so late in the window and with the Special One recently stepping in to convince him to stay. But his extension talks are looming, and agents don’t sit on their hands. Asensio would be super expensive, but it’s not a crazy proposition considering what Roma have been capable of pulling off already.
