Juventus Suffer Major Injury Blow Against RB Leipzig

Juventus fought back twice to pull off a remarkable 3-2 UEFA Champions League triumph against RB Leipzig on Wednesday evening. Thiago Motta’s team defied a numerical disadvantage after Michele Di Gregorio’s second-half expulsion to claim three points at the Red Bull Arena.
In doing so, Juventus suffered a significant injury blow. According to Calciomercato, Gleison Bremer twisted his knee in an early head-to-head battle against Lois Openda, which could force his lengthy spell on the sidelines. The Brazilian had to be subbed off after only six minutes.
Bremer was stretching his legs in a race battle against Openda when he suddenly collapsed to the ground. Juventus medical staff immediately came to his aid, but they could’ve only escorted the former Torino center-back off the pitch.
The 27-year-old will soon undergo further scans on his left knee. However, the early prognosis doesn’t look promising. Bremer’s injury comes as a massive blow for Juventus. He’s been the mainstay of Motta’s rock-solid defense this season.
Juventus fought bravely to keep hold of their defensive cornerstone in the summer amid interest from the Premier League. Bremer has repaid that trust with a phenomenal start to the season. Unfortunately, it could all be to no avail if he can’t return to full fitness soon.
With matches coming thick and fast, Juventus can ill-afford to lose their most valuable defensive piece this early in the season. The Turin giants will resume their pursuit of a long-awaited Serie A title on Sunday when they host relegation-threatened Cagliari at the Allianz Stadium.
