Juventus Talking With Sassuolo to Sign Gianluca Scamacca

Juventus have encountered some difficulties in their pursuit of veteran strikers to add on short-term deals and have therefore turned their attention to Gianluca Scamacca, beginning to discuss a possible deal with Sassuolo, Gazzetta dello Sport’s transfer market Alfredo Pedullà reported. The two clubs are negotiating an 18-month loan spell with obligation to buy and Scamacca would leave Genoa to move to Turin immediately if the two sides could reach an agreement over the formula and the fee of the transfer.

The Bianconeri have changed their strategy after Fabio Quagliarella committed to Sampdoria over the weekend with an Instagram post saying that ‘some bonds go beyond some courtships’. Gazzetta indicated that Quagliarella, but also Graziano Pellè, were not interested in joining for just six months given that their playing time would have been limited and that the former Shandong Luneng attacker is searching for at least a 18-month contract at this time.

Moreover, Gennaro Gattuso stated after the match with Udinese that Napoli intend to keep Fernando Llorente until the situation related to Victor Osimhen, who is dealing with COVID and a tricky shoulder problem, is sorted and therefore that signing is on hold too. Finally, Genoa president Enrico Preziosi shut the door on the departure of Eldor Shomurodov, who was linked to the Old Lady late last week, as they want to hold onto him at least until June.

Our view

It looks like the rumoured targets to complete the Juventus attack are being ruled out one after another for different reasons. Scamacca would be a decent option but, despite the fact that the two teams could get creative with the formula, bringing him in would still require a sizeable investment. On the other hand, Genoa might not offer much resistance given the strong performances of Mattia Destro, Shomurodov and Marko Pjaca.
