Juventus Tipped to Pursue Renan Lodi if Alex Sandro Leaves

Juventus will try to move on from Alex Sandro in the summer and, if they were successful, Renan Lodi would be one of the main targets to replace him. An emissary of the Bianconeri was in Madrid to watch the Champions League tie between the Colchoneros and Manchester United Wednesday to check in the left-back, Tuttosport reports.

The 23-year-old was one of the best performers in that game and set up the early goal by Joao Felix. He has been growing consistently since moving to La Liga from Atletico Paranaense in July of 2019. He has tallied 3 goals and provided 9 assists in 104 appearances with his current team.

Juventus had eyed Renan Lodi before he transferred to Atletico Madrid. However, he has the same agent as Alex Sandro. The representative nudged him towards joining a different team to avoid creating a potentially hurtful competition between the two. Los Rojiblancos paid €20M at the time. His price tag figures to have gone up since then.

The 2018 Copa Sudamericana champion has supplanted the veteran as the starter for Brazil, with which he has accumulated 15 caps. Juventus are discussing the future of Alvaro Morata with Atletico Madrid, and Renan Lodi could become the subject of further talks between the two sides. It would take a sizeable investment to bring him in, though. Moreover, it will not be easy to offload Alex Sandro and his lofty wages. He has drawn some interest from foreign teams in the recent windows, but the negotiations never went too far.
