Juventus to Pick Pace but Inter Are Favorites, Says Capello

Fabio Capello is aware of the advantage Juventus possess, not playing any continental cup competitions this season following their UEFA ban. The Bianconeri have made the most of their situation by focusing on Serie A, as they sit atop the table, just two points behind Derby d’Italia rivals Inter.

With a depleted squad in terms of quality following the suspensions of Paul Pogba and Nicolò Fagioli, Juventus are expected to make the most of the winter window.

“Not having the toll of the European Cups can guarantee you six or seven more points in the standings compared to their rivals who play every three days. But Inter are the big favorites for the title: they have a large and quality squad. But we’re waiting to see if, and how, Juventus will exploit the January transfer window,” said Capello in a talk with La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Voce Giallorossa).

Few names that have been linked to reinforce Max Allegri’s midfield are Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips and Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, while Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi is a name proposed to arrive in attack.

“Phillips always seemed like a complete midfielder to me with the English national team and in his time at Leeds United. And Højbjerg is one too. Berardi is the playmaker that Allegri lacks. If Domenico moves, it will serve him well. His balls are fast and dangerous. It would be an added value for Juventus. It will be a fantastic trio with Vlahovic and Chiesa: Dusan and Federico don’t seem in a funk to me, their goals will return.”
