Juventus to Rely on Ex-Fiorentina Stars to Topple Franchi

Connoisseurs of action-packed football will hope Fiorentina and Juventus can get on the scoresheet for the third time in four Serie A meetings at the Artemio Franchi. Two of the last three top-flight encounters between the two sides in Tuscany have ended 1-1.

Interestingly, that has been the most common scoreline in this fixture, with 24 of their matches in Serie A yielding a 1-1 score. Juventus will rely on the former Fiorentina duo to hold up their end of the bargain. Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa will lead the line as they return to their old stomping ground as foes.

Chiesa and Vlahovic earned their Serie A credentials at Fiorentina before joining Juventus in mega-money deals. During their time at the Franchi, the household duo netted a combined 70 goals for La Viola, with the Serbian striker even getting into the Capocannoniere conversation down the final stretch of his career in Tuscany.

When Fiorentina held Juventus to a 1-1 draw in this corresponding matchup last season, both players were on the sidelines. To be precise, Chiesa was in the treatment room, while Vlahovic stayed on the bench as he had just recovered from injury. Both Bianconeri stars have recently struggled with physical problems, but they’re fit for this contest.

Juventus have massively relied on their formidable duo at the start of the new campaign. With four goals apiece, Chiesa and Vlahovic have featured in 50% of their side’s 16 goals in Serie A in 2023/24.
