Juventus to Shuffle the Deck in Backup Positions on Allegri’s Orders

Juventus need to settle a few question marks on the fringes of the roster in the next three weeks. Manuel Locatelli might end up being their only purchase down the stretch. But there could be some more exits based upon Massimiliano Allegri’s assessments, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

Aaron Ramsey has gone back-and-forth on his future at Juventus. Before the Euro, he openly stated that it was time for him to find a team where he could be more comfortable. However, he has received no offers to date, especially from Premier League sides. The coach has started working on a new role for him. The player recently told the management that he would like to have another shot in Turin. It is not certain that will indeed be the case, but his departure seems more unlikely now, the newspaper indicates.

The Juventus front office intended to keep Luca Pellegrini on the roster to back up Alex Sandro. Instead, the gaffer prefers Mattia De Sciglio, who is more versatile due to his ability to play on either flank. He believes the former Milan and Lyon player to be more reliable defensively. The 22-year-old fullback should transfer again, likely temporarily.

Another former loanee has excellent chances to stay. Daniele Rugani is the clear frontrunner to be the fourth center-back, filling in for Merih Demiral. Juventus would have looked for a proper replacement in other years, but they are short on cash this summer. Young midfielders Nicolò Fagioli and Filippo Ranocchia will move to a Serie A or B club to play regularly.
