Juventus have earmarked Ricardo Pepi as Arkadiusz Milik might not be a long-term solution for the position. They’ll take a close look at him in the Champions League since they’ll face PSV in the group stage.
According to TuttoSport, he has a €15M price tag and is under contract until 2028. He burst onto the scenes at a very young age with FC Dallas, scoring 16 goals and providing 4 assists in 59 matches before the move across the pond. He was tracked by major clubs but elected to join a smaller one, Augsburg, to be a regular. Things didn’t work out too well for him in the Bundesliga, where he failed to hit the net in 15 matches, but he bounced back in a loan spell at Groningen. His current team scooped him up for €11M last summer, and he’s been serviceable. He’s been productive with the USMNT, finding the target 10 times in 29 games.
Juventus would eventually be able to sign Pepi only next summer as they have filled their quota of extra-EU signings with Vasilije Adzic and Douglas Luiz in the most recent window. Milik has missed the first few matches due to a knee injury.
The Pole and Dusan Vlahovic are both tied to them only until 2026. The Bianconeri will soon concretely try to come to terms on an extension with the latter.
Our Take on Juventus and Pepi
Milik is a perfectly fine backup, but he does miss time on a regular basis, and they can always decide to go younger. However, the PSV forward might be a tad expensive for such a role.
