Juventus to Tussle Roma for Swiss Midfield Talisman

Borussia Monchengladbach talisman Denis Zakaria has long been linked with a move to Jose Mourinho’s Roma, who recently reignited their interest in the Swiss international. However, a new suitor on the block has been identified.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via TUTTOmercatoweb) reports of the Bianconeri’s intention to add Zakaria to their shopping list.

The Swiss international’s contract with the German club expires in June 2022, allowing him to begin pre-contract talks with the club of his choice come January. Gladbach have almost certainly conceded to the fact that he will leave at the earliest, amid interest from the Serie A giants.

The versatile defensive midfielder also has the ability to drop deep in defence – something that other transfer targets fail to provide.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side have long been interested in bolstering their midfield prowess after the signing of Manuel Locatelli from Sassuolo. French talent Aurelien Tchouameni was the priority for the Italian giants, who have now shifted attention to other players they can get for much cheaper and potentially for free.

Dortmund ace Axel Witsel has now been joined by Zakaria as the Bianconeri’s top midfield transfer target.
