Juventus Top Serie A in Earnings from Qatari World Cup

FIFA foresee registering record profits thanks to the recently concluded World Cup, but only a fraction of them will trickle down to the teams, Serie A ones included. The federation raked in $7.5B in the four-year cycle that culminated in Qatar. They expect to smash the €10B threshold in the next one, as per La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Only a slice of the money will go to the clubs, which loaned their players for up to a month. The Club Benefits Programme, which has been agreed upon with ECA, the team’s association, will have $209M at its disposal. It was instituted in 2010.

The compensation amounts to €10k per each day the footballers spent away from the side, including the preparation. Therefore, the longer they stayed in the tournament, the more their respective outfits will receive. The time frame refers to the two years before the competition, so teams proportionally get money also for those who left in recent windows.

Serie A and B will collect $15M for their contribution to the World Cup. Juventus top the chart with a $2.9M income, followed by Inter ($2.1M). Then Milan ($1.5M), Atalanta ($1.3M), Fiorentina ($1.2M), Torino ($1.1M), Napoli ($1M), Roma ($0.9M), and so son. The list comprises Verona, Bologna, Lazio, Sampdoria, Spezia, Salernitana, Sassuolo, Udinese, and Bari.

The Bianconeri had the most representatives in Qatar, and some went very far.  Paulo Dybala, Matthijs De Ligt, Cristiano Ronaldo, Alvaro Morata, Rodrigo Bentancur, Aaron Ramsey, and Denis Zakaria will also be factored in. Rabiot will to the highest possible sum (€370k) since that he’s been in Turin in the last biennium and reached the final. He’s on par only with Lautaro Martinez in such regard.
