Juventus Tracking Old Target as McKennie Replacement

Juventus are waiting for the right offer to sell Weston McKennie. The decision is mostly economically driven as they could make a decent profit on him. They would bring in a new midfielder if he left. The management is considering multiple options, including Axel Witsel, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

McKennie has drawn interest especially from the Premier League. Tottenham are after him, but they have only proposed a loan deal thus far. The swaps with either Tanguy Dembélé or Moussa Sissoko do not appear to be viable solutions. On the other hand, Everton and Aston Villa are ready to submit larger bids, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs. Bayern Munich pitched a trade with Corentin Tolisso, Libero reports. Juventus wish to cash in at least €30M.

Unless they got somebody in return, the Bianconeri would substitute him with a cheaper player. They tried to sign Witsel five years ago before he moved to China. Massimiliano Allegri prefers a veteran that would be ready right away. The contract of the Belgian international with Borussia Dortmund expires in 2022.

According to Gazzetta, Juventus often reprimanded McKennie for his off-the-field behavior last year. During the lockdown, he was busted for an illegal party at his mansion alongside two teammates, infringing all sorts of COVID regulations. Also, he reportedly does not follow the dietary instructions strictly, which has been a cause of frustration behind the scenes. While the monetary element is at the forefront, there are ulterior reasons why Juventus are seriously contemplating letting him go.
