Juventus Trying to Lock Up McKennie for Years to Come

Juventus have lofty plans for their midfield but also a lot of balls in the air since the future of Weston McKennie and Adrien Rabiot at the club is uncertain. The contract of the Frenchman runs out at the end of the campaign, while the American’s one in 2025.

The Old Lady has been trying to prolong it to no avail at this stage, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs (via Mediaset). A recent meeting didn’t lead to the white smoke. The midfielder never lacks suitors in the Premier League. His sale could fetch €15/20M after a strong campaign. He’ll be made available without advancements in the coming months.

According to Leggo, Juventus have offered to the McKennie camp to slightly raise his wages, from €2.5M to €3M annually. The Bianconeri wish to add two or three years to the USMNT cornerstone’s deal, Tuttomercatoweb informs. The contacts will continue in the coming weeks.

The 25-year-old is having his best season in Turin. He has provided four assists in his last two appearances, bringing his total tally to nine.

Our Take on Juventus and McKennie

They need to reach agreement with at least one between him and Rabiot, and his demands shouldn’t be too hard to meet. While nobody is irreplaceable, it’ll be a tall and expensive order to sign three or four sound midfielders in the same window. They arguably need two new ones even if everybody stays. The fewer they have to purchase, the easier it’ll be to go all-in on Teun Koopmeiners.
