Juventus Unlikely to Move On from Oft-Injured Pogba

Paul Pogba will miss 20-to-30 days with his latest injury. The tests confirmed that he indeed suffered an adductor strain right before the Sampdoria game. It’s shaping up to be a completely lost season for the Frenchman. He has logged just two appearances in his return to Turin.

Despite some rumors occasionally popping up, Juventus aren’t actually considering moving on from him even though they didn’t like some of his choices, especially the call on delaying the initial surgery to address a torn meniscus, SportMediaset informs. He earns €8M per year and has been paid €200k per each minute he’s been on the pitch. It’s unlikely that any relevant team will pursue him next summer.

In addition, terminating his contract would be very expensive. On top of the severance package, Juventus would have to pay €4M in taxes since they’d have to pay back the fiscal benefits they have enjoyed so far.

Pogba was clearly down in the dumps after the tests Monday and didn’t stop to sign autographs for the fans waiting for him outside the clinic. The club and the coaching staff will try to lift his spirits during the rehab. The Frenchman is very well-liked inside the locker room even though he hasn’t contributed much this campaign.

On top of retaining the ex-Manchester United man, Juventus still have a small amount of hope of re-upping Adrien Rabiot’s expiring contract, TuttoSport informs. He’s having a career year. The contacts between his mother-agent and other sides have been sparse so far. It wouldn’t be the first time she went against the grain. However, they’d need to qualify for the Champions League to have better chances.
