At the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Juventus hosted Maccabi Haifa in a must-win Champions League group stage encounter. Angel Di Maria cemented himself as the clear man of the match with a trio of hattricks which sealed the Old Lady’s first win in the tournament this season. So here are our player ratings for the European contest between Juventus and Maccabi Haifa which ended 3-1 in favor of the Bianconeri.
Juventus (4-3-3)
Wojciech Szczesny – 6.5
The Pole deserved to leave the pitch with a clean sheet to his name after pulling off some spectacular saves. However, he could do little to prevent Din David from scoring after beating the offside trap.
Juan Cuadrado – 6.5
An improved display from the Colombian who’s trying to regain his best form. Despite being a part of the back-four, he repeatedly harassed the opposition with his runs on the right wing.
Gleison Bremer – 6
The Brazil international was enjoying a comfortable evening until Haifa’s resurgence in the middle of the second half. Couldn’t catch David’s run ahead of the goal, but in his defense, he was rightfully maintaining the offside trap.
Danilo – 6.5
The former Real Madrid defender looked at ease while interpreting the centre back role. He then tried to support the attack when switching to his original right-back spot. He remains a key member in this Juventus squad, especially due to his versatility.
Mattia De Sciglio – 6
The Italian fullback only lasted for 45 minutes before leaving his place for Alex Sandro. His outing was decent, but didn’t add anything spectacular.
Weston McKennie – 6
A hard working display as ever from the former Schalke man, however, his touch still lacks quality. If he can improve his technique, he would become a formidable midfielder.
Leandro Paredes – 6
The former PSG man kept it ticking in the middle of the park while mostly playing the simple pass.
Adrien Rabiot – 8
The Frenchman finally broke his duck by smashing home the opener following an exquisite give-and-go with Di Maria. He then sealed the win with a header that ended Maccabi’s late revolt.
Angel Di Maria – 8.5
A stunning display from the Argentine star who provided a hattrick of assists for his teammates. He could have added more to his tally had they been more clinical in front of goal.
Dusan Vlahovic – 7
Despite scoring a goal, the Serbian left the pitch with a sense of dissatisfaction, as he wasted three great chances. He hit the net on a second occasions, but was denied by a marginal offside call.
Filip Kostic – 6
The winger connected well with Vlahovic early in the contest, but his impact dwindled as the match progressed before leaving the pitch in the second half.
3 – Ángel Di Maria is the first Juventus player able of delivering three assists in a #ChampionsLeague match since Opta started collecting this kind of data (since 2003/04 season). Fantasy.#JuveMaccabi #UCL pic.twitter.com/ijiEcPg7Mw

Juventus Substitutes
Alex Sandro – 5.5
The Brazilian rarely darted forward, while the Israelis identified his flank as the weak gate, launching several dangerous attacks from that spot.
Manuel Locatelli – 6.5
The Italian added an extra flavor to the middle of the park while playing in a relatively advanced role. Picked up Kean with a lovely through ball and almost scored a stunning goal from 50 yards out.
Leonardo Bonucci – 5.5
The captain’s introduction was supposed to solidify the backline, but Massimiliano Allegri’s plan backfired with the Middle Eastern side almost equalizing the score. Didn’t inspire confidence as he usually does.
Moise Kean – 5.5
The young forward worked hard for the team but couldn’t beat Maccabi’s goalkeeper in his two attempts on goal.
Fabio Miretti – N/A
