Juventus have been negotiating with Paulo Dybala ever since shaking up their management in July. The transfer market affairs initially postponed the signature, but it has not arrived after deadline day either. His agent Jorge Antun and the bigwigs have met once in September.

Despite being close to an agreement, Juventus will have to wait a little longer to finalize the new contract. Given the poor start, all focus is currently on the matches. There have been no further talks after the first international break, Calciomercato.com reports.

The Juventus brass and the entourage of La Joya will likely meet again in ten days or so, or during the second pause, the site adds. Pavel Nedved confirmed yesterday that there is still some work to do before putting pen-to-paper.

The vice-president told Sky: “Dybala is having excellent performances and has taken on a leadership role. We are happy with that. The negotiation is ongoing. We have played a lot in this period, and we have to find the right window to complete the operation. We are getting there; something is still missing, but we are very optimistic.”

The Juventus front office and his teammates, primarily captain Giorgio Chiellini, have anointed Dybala as the new face of the franchise following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. The contract of the Argentinian striker expires at the end of the current season. His representatives have asked for a significant pay bump given his new status. Instead, the executives have offered more modest figures.
