Juventus Willing to Sign Real Madid Veteran on One Condition

After a quiet January transfer session, Juventus are expected to be more active next summer. The Old Lady is already working on contemplating the market options, before launching her attacks by the end of the season. Marcelo is a player who’s been repeatedly linked with a move to Juventus in the past, so are the conditions finally in place for such a move to materialize?

According to Calciomercato.com,  the Brazilian’s adventure at Real Madrid is coming into a definitive end after more than thirteen years of service within the White Castle.

The left back has lost his starting position in favor of Ferland Mendy who became the first choice of his compatriot Zinedine Zidane.

Therefore, the 32-year-old only managed to play 828 minutes throughout 10 appearances during the current campaign.

Whilst Juventus have tried to sign Marcelo last summer, the source believes that sporting director Fabio Paratici didn’t possess enough funds to seal the deal due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, with the Brazilian’s contract set to expire in 2022, Los Blancos could allow their legend to leave for a low transfer fee, or possibly for free.

Nonetheless, the Bianconeri would only bring him on one condition. According to the source, the player must be willing to lower his wages prior to joining the reigning Italian champions.

Marcelo currently earns 8 million euros per season, so it remains to be seen what’s the exact figure that Juventus are willing to offer for his yearly services, and whether he’ll end up accepting it.

Whilst this report could be premature, the promoted idea isn’t too far-fetched. Juve have been in the hunt for a left back for quite some time now, and unless Gianluca Frabotta dramatically improves between now and the end of the season, Paratici will resume his search.

Therefore, the Old Lady has a chance to add a top class – although aging – player on the left side for a low cost.

It should also be noted that Marcelo has a strong bond with Cristiano Ronaldo since their time together in Madrid.
