Juventus Working on Signing Household Ligue 1 Striker

Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauro Icardi could return to Serie A in January as his wife-agent Wanda Nara reportedly met with the Juventus chiefs over a potential loan move. The ex-Inter striker has tumbled down the pecking order at the Parc des Princes since Lionel Messi’s arrival in the summer and is looking for a way out.

Icardi has netted three goals in his 17 appearances in all competitions this season, though it’s worth noting he has only managed seven starts so far. A lack of game times could hinder the 28-year-old forward’s hopes of making the Argentina squad for the upcoming World Cup finals. After missing out on ‘Russia 2018,’ he is keen to represent his country in Qatar next year.

Leaving PSG for regular first-team football elsewhere appears to be the only solution. Several Serie A clubs, including Milan and Juventus, were heavily linked with a move for Icardi back in the summer. However, neither side managed to pull off a deal with Paris, which saw the striker stay put in the French capital.

Things have since changed for Icardi, who has turned into a bit-part player under Mauricio Pochettino. Meanwhile, Juventus are on the lookout for a new centre-forward to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo’s summer departure. Moise Kean, who returned to the club on a two-year loan from Everton on the deadline day, has failed to live up to expectations.

Additionally, Alvaro Morata continues to struggle for form and consistency, forcing Juventus’ hand in the January transfer window. Per Footmercato, the Bianconeri have met Nara to discuss the prospect of hiring her husband on loan for the remainder of the season. The player himself looks willing to return to Serie A, where he spent the best years of his career.

Given PSG’s star-studded attacking line-up, the Ligue 1 heavyweights could be inclined to sanction the deal in January.
