Kamada Re-Ups with Lazio, Aston Villa After Guendouzi

After much speculation, Daichi Kamada is set to stay at Lazio with the most straightforward solution to do so, activating the multi-year option that was agreed upon last summer. The deadline to exercise it is May 31st, Corriere dello Sport relayed.

The entourage of the Japanese floated some alternates. For instance, letting it lapse and agreeing to a new contract, perhaps a seasonal one with slightly higher wages. However, the Biancocelesti managed to convince them to abide by the previous terms. The club would have missed out on the fiscal discounts of the ‘Decreto Crescita’ with a new deal.

Kamada struggled to emerge under Maurizio Sarri, but the arrival of Igor Tudor on the Lazio bench turned his season around. He has started consistently and fared impeccably in the last couple of months. He closed his maiden campaign in the Italian capital with 2 goals and 2 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.

The midfielder was linked to Roma and Juventus but was pursued with the most determination by Cristal Palace. They are coached by his former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glassner.

While Lazio will keep ahold of Kamada, they are facing significant uncertainty in the midfield. Matteo Guendouzi is at odds with Tudor and wants out. Aston Villa are after him, but his price tag is €30M.

The negotiation with Al-Duhail concerning Luis Alberto continues. However, the Qatari club is getting fed up with Claudio Lotito’s requests and might walk away, Il Messaggero relayed. The Biancocelesti want at least €15M, while the counterparty tendered €11M.
