Karsdorp Lawyer Slams Mourinho for Incident, Asks Out

Rick Karsdorp has been practicing regularly and participated in the recent friendlies after José Mourinho targeted him, but the issue is far from being solved. His lawyer Salvatore Civale dished to Calciomercato.

“I can’t go into detail because there is an ongoing procedure. The problem generated from the wrongful behavior of the coach, who’s not new to this kind of actions. He blamed the player for the team’s poor performance. When somebody of his caliber speaks that way, it creates a hostile environment. The fans attacked him at the airport and on social media. Calling somebody a traitor is hefty: the club did nothing to appease the situation. They remained silent. FIFPro intervened to help him.  It’s a very serious incident looking at it from the outside. There aren’t the conditions for a serene permanence, and his price tag has decreased.”

Despite the situation, Karsdorp isn’t a lock to depart.

“He’s for sale, but he’s a professional. As long as it’s safe for him and his family, he’s ready to give his best to honor his contract. I don’t know if he’ll transfer. The club doesn’t want to give him away. Every team operates within the confines of a legal system that allows them to take action against players or coaches. The Italian bylaws favor sides. The collective bargaining agreement doesn’t completely protect footballers and permits risky behaviors.”

The lawyer wants Mourinho to take the first step toward reconciling.

“I don’t think that a contract termination is in the cards. The coach offended Karsdorp, so whoever made a mistake should apologize, and the player would accept it. However, Roma’s problem is that the gaffer doesn’t respect the team and the management, let alone a footballer.”
