Kean No Longer Joining Atletico Madrid Due to Injury

Moise Kean will report back to Juventus as Atletico Madrid decided to nix the move after the medicals. The striker has spent a few days in Spain and attended the recent match with Valencia. The tests revealed he would need at least three more weeks to be able to play. The Colchoneros elected not to move forward, Alfredo Pedullà relays.

Diego Simeone made the call along with the management. The Rojiblancos would have simply added him to their frontline without selling one of their strikers. They had struck a deal with Juventus on a six-month loan for €400K.

Kean had refused Monza and Fiorentina once he caught wind that he could join Atletico Madrid, but his lower leg injury thwarted his plans. Juventus might now look for a new landing spot for the center-forward, although there’s not much time left.

The Bianconeri weren’t planning to replace him but could have signed an extra midfielder with the resources opened up by his departure.

Our Take on Atletico Madrid, Kean, and Juventus

It’s an unfortunate turn of events, and it won’t be easy to find a team willing to wait, unless they sign him permanently or on a longer loan. He’d have to redo his contract for that. It’ll be equally tough to get him re-engaged, so the Old Lady will be busy trying to offload him. They were finally getting serious about bringing in a new piece, which won’t happen if he stays put.
