Juventus Prodigy Forward Reflects on the Honor of Wearing the No.10 Shirt

Prodigious Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz has offered his verdict on the burden of wearing the coveted No.10 shirt in Turin. During a comprehensive interview with FIFA, as reported by Calciomercato, the 19-year-old discussed several topics, including the privilege of donning the famous number on his back.

Wearing Juventus’ 10? There are two sides to having a number like this: it’s a really, really heavy number. It’s an honor but also a responsibility. You have pride and confidence in yourself when you wear the ten,the Juventus starlet admitted.

But you’re also aware of the responsibility to show something for the people who gave you that honor. I like wearing it on the field; I feel able to contribute even more to the club’s success.”

Juventus made a bold decision in the summer when they gave Yildiz the number ten despite his relatively sparse playing time at the Allianz Stadium last season. However, the Turkey international has established himself as a permanent first-team fixture under new manager Thiago Motta this season.

However, Yildiz has yet to repay that trust. He has failed to score in all eight Serie A appearances in 2024/25. He will look to atone for an underwhelming league start when Juventus take on arch-rivals Inter in the famous Derby d’Italia on Sunday. Yildiz will likely lead the line at Giuseppe Meazza alongside Dusan Vlahovic and Francisco Conceicao.

Sunday’s clash comes at the worst possible moment for Juventus as they suffered their first competitive defeat under Motta in midweek UEFA Champions League action, slumping to a heartbreaking 1-0 home loss to German side Stuttgart.
