Key Week for Paulo Dybala’s Future at Juventus

Juventus and Paulo Dybala are hopeful of finding an agreement over the Argentine’s contract extension this week. According to Calciomercato, the player’s agent, Jorge Antun, will meet the Bianconeri hierarchy to discuss the forward’s new contract in the coming days.

Dybala has less than a year left to run on his current contract at the Allianz Stadium. However, both Juventus and the 27-year-old have already made it clear they want to continue together. It’s now up to the club to meet the left-footed star’s requests and tie him down to a new long-term deal.

A series of injury setbacks have curtailed Dybala’s progress in Turin over the past couple of years. The Argentine even came close to leaving Serie A at one point, with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur trying to broker his move to the Premier League in the summer of 2020. But talks with Spurs came a cropper, forcing the player to stay and fancy his chances in Italy.

Now with Cristiano Ronaldo gone for Old Trafford, Massimiliano Allegri sees Dybala as the future leader of this Juventus side. The Italian manager is keen to build his side around one of his favorite players and wants his contractual situation sorted out as soon as possible.

Dybala has regained full fitness this season. He has already racked up two goals and one assist in three appearances in all competitions. Per reports, only €2m stand between Juventus’ offer and Dybala’s demands. It’s fair to say that it’s a bridgeable gap, so it’s only a matter of time before the ex-Palermo starlet pens a new deal in Turin.

Dybala will lead the charge when Juventus take on Milan in a mouth-watering Serie A clash on Sunday night. Seeking their first league win of the season, the Bianconeri will be desperate to upset the arch-rivals and kick on after an underwhelming start to the season.
