Khvicha Kvaratskhelia Told to Stay at Napoli Amid PSG Links

Former Napoli captain Marek Hamsik has urged Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to commit his future to the Diego Maradona Stadium amid growing interest from Paris Saint-Germain. In one of his latest interviews, Hamsik delivered his verdict on the transfer saga surrounding the Georgia international.

Asked whether the 23-year-old should turn down foreign approaches to stay at Napoli, Hamsik was unequivocal.

Of course. Napoli needs champions like him who warm up the fans and win games with a play. And now there’s [Antonio] Conte on the bench: I’m very curious and optimistic,” the Slovakian stated.

Kvaratskhelia has quickly grown to become a fan favorite in Naples. Aptly named ‘Kvaradona’ by the Partenopei faithful, the versatile forward helped the club end a 33-year title drought in Serie A in his first season in Italy.

Like the entire Napoli squad, Kvaratskhelia wasn’t the best version of himself in 2023/24. However, he has showcased his class at Euro 2024, inspiring Georgia to knockout qualification in the country’s maiden tournament appearance.

Despite his household status and unquestionable quality, Kvaratskhelia is among the lowest-paid players at Napoli. Aurelio De Laurentiis has tried to lure him to sign a new deal, but the winger seems reluctant to stay. Reports say he already rebuffed the club’s offer to extend his contract.

The parties will discuss Kvaratskhelia’s future once the former Dinamo Batumi starlet returns from the Euros. Unfortunately for the Napoli fans, the player seems to have made up his mind after PSG pieced together a substantial contract bid.
