Inter have reignited their pursuit of Jakub Kiwior after missing out on other targets to shore up the midfield. The interest is mutual, as the Pole has quickly accepted the move. However, it won’t be easy to come to terms with Arsenal, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The Nerazzurri don’t have much to spend and want the defender on loan with an option to buy. The former Spezia could indeed leave once the Gunners complete their lengthy chase of Riccardo Calafiori.
Signing Kiwior would fulfill the request by Inter ownership to bring in a young player rather than a veteran. He’d back up Alessandro Bastoni at first. However, since he’s 24, he’d be next in line to succeed Stefan De Vrij and Francesco Acerbi in the middle of the defense.
Arsenal paid €25M to acquire him from the Aquilotti in January 2023. His valuation has stayed the same even though he hasn’t always been a regular. While he could be on his way out, the Premier League prefers a permanent sale or a loan with an obligation to buy, Fabrizio Romano relays.
For the same role, Inter have tested the waters for Nantes’ Nathan Zézé, TuttoSport reports. Instead, they consider Zenit’s Renan too expensive.
Our Take on Inter and Kiwior
It’d be a high-end solution to a relatively small problem, Tajon Buchanan missing a few months, as they’d be accelerating their future plans with such a signing. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will be willing to play ball on the formula, though.
