Kjaer Not Yet in Talks to Re-Up Expiring Milan Contract

Simon Kjaer has been a regular for Milan in recent months thanks to the injuries to his colleagues in the back. However, the emergency is about to end, and his rediscovered form hasn’t prompted the management to offer him an extension. His agent Mikkel Belk spoke with Danish publication Bold (via Calciomercato).

“I won’t name specific clubs, but he has been and will always be the subject of interest in every window. It’s true that a few sides, including very big ones, moved for him in January. But he’s already in one of those and wasn’t keen on leaving Milan in the middle of another thrilling season.”

Belk revealed one of the teams that pursued Kjaer.

“Fenerbahce inquired about him. He was one of their stars in the past, and they still dream of bringing him back. But he wasn’t even close to transferring. It wasn’t the right time to consider it.”

The contract of Kjaer runs out in June.

“We have yet to discuss next season with his current club. We’ll do it at the right moment. He’d like to renew. However, he’s in a perfect situation since he’d be free to transfer after playing in Euro 2024 with Denmark if he doesn’t.”

Our Take on Kjaer and Milan

The writing is on the wall as he hasn’t been dominant or dependable physically since his ACL tear, and the front office will go younger. On the other hand, he still came through when they needed him the most.
