Koopmeiners Comes Out into the Open About His Future

Teun Koopmeiners has announced that he plans to leave Atalanta next summer, although he wants to do right by his team. He gave an interview to De Telegraaf from the Dutch setup.

“Napoli were already concretely interested last summer, but the two clubs didn’t reach an agreement in the end. I told Atalanta that I want to transfer next summer. However, something really interesting will have to come up for me to leave Bergamo. My girlfriend and I are having a lot of fun in Italy. Still, I’d bear with the rain for some English clubs.”

Koopmeiners left the door open to a few destinations.

“I hope to receive some offers to ponder and that Atalanta will receive a nice sum. I’ve had a wonderful time with them. I would lie if I said I did not hear about the interest from Juventus and the Premier League sides. I read the news directly, or they get forwarded to me.”

Our Take on Koopmeiners

That removes one obstacle for the suitors: the desire of the player, which probably has been there for a long time considering the constant chatter. Atalanta are masterful at selling, and only English teams can reach certain numbers in the transfer market.

Cristiano Giuntoli, who’s more known for unearthing gems than arranging blockbuster moves, would really need to work his magic to emerge victorious in what promises to be a rich and intense fray.
