Teun Koopmeiners is an integral part of Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta, and the club has proven the fact by tying the Dutch midfielder to an extended contract. Koopmeiners’ exit links to top clubs such as Napoli, Liverpool, and Juventus have definitively been put to bed, at least for the moment. The midfielder had previously revealed his happiness at staying in Bergamo.
Latest reports from Italy (via TuttoAtalanta) indicate that Koopmeiners’ Bergamo stay has been extended by a further year i.e. until the summer of 2027. The AZ Alkmaar youth product was the subject of uncertainty, but chairman Luca Percassi and sporting director Tony D’Amico have expressed their trust in the Dutchman with the extension.

Valued at €40M by La Dea, Koopmeiners was closely linked to the exit door at the Gewiss Stadium in recent months, having been inquired about constantly by European giants. Instead, he will become Atalanta’s highest earner with the renewal.
Koopmeiners moved from AZ to Atalanta in the summer of 2021 for €12M and has since established himself as one of Serie A’s best central midfielders.
