Surprising details have emerged as Inter continue their search for defenders to replace PSG-bound Milan Skriniar at the back. It is no secret of the Nerazzurri’s interest in Kalidou Koulibaly, but what is less known is the club’s attempt to lure the ex-Napoli stopper to Giuseppe Meazza last winter from Chelsea.
Having moved to Chelsea in the summer of 2022, things have not gone as expected for the Senegal captain, and he could soon find himself exiting Stamford Bridge. Inter is a potential destination.

As per Calciomercato, Inter tried to sign Koulibaly after enquiring with agent Fali Ramadani in January – when the Skriniar-PSG saga was at its height. The Metz youth product remains the Nerazzurri’s number one target, perhaps in the form of an initial loan deal, similar to the on that saw Romelu Lukaku make his return to Inter. However, Chelsea prefer a permanent move.
A turbulent season in London means Koulibaly’s future is still in the dark, as the Blues seek to rebuild themselves after a disastrous bottom-half finish in the Premier League.

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio is expected to fly out to London this week to strike talks with the Boehly-led Chelsea management, with Koulibaly and Lukaku at the forefront of negotiations. On the other hand, Chelsea will look to include Andre Onana as a makeweight from the Nerazzurri.
