Kalidou Koulibaly has been routinely tipped to a move away from Napoli, but it may not happen this summer either. The defender professed his attachment to the city: “I love everything here. The sun, the sea, the people, and the enthusiasm for football. Whether they are 10 or 70, they are all passionate and constantly talk about it. I like the way they welcome foreigners. My kids ask me to go back when we spend time in France. If I have been here for eight years despite all that happened is because I feel great.”

The star gave an interview to Onze Mondial: “I did not imagine to stay this long when I joined. My first season was rough, and I was on the verge of departing. Many people did not think I would reach these levels. I thought the club would sell me on multiple occasions, but they never did. It is rare nowadays to remain at the same club for a while, and it is a gratifying goal. I am happy because I am having a good career.”

Koulibaly indicated why it is so hard to leave Napoli: “First of all, the president listens to the fans. When they do not want somebody to flee, the owner tries to make them happy. Moreover, he always sets considerable price tags, which has hindered some negotiations. I am not a confrontational guy. If I were to switch teams one day, I would do it cleanly rather than collide with the club. The supporters do not deserve arguments or bad behavior. They trust me, and I try to repay them on the pitch. I am completely fine and serene at the moment. We will see what happens at the end of the season.”
