Napoli expect Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to stay put, but the negotiation to prolong his contract might be more challenging than expected. His camp has begun making veiled threats about his future. His agent Mamuka Jugeli spoke with the Georgian version of La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“We’re talking with the club. We’ll see what happens. He’ll depart if a team makes an offer their management can’t turn down. I can’t indicate a specific fee. President Aurelio De Laurentiis makes those evaluations. I protect my client’s contract and work. Everything will be clear at the end of May.”
The representative implied that Kvaratskhelia wouldn’t necessarily decline the opportunity to move to a top-tier team and wouldn’t insist on continuing with Napoli.
The root of the problems between the parties is the contract of the Georgian star. It’s long-term, until 2027, but he makes just €1.3M per year. According to the publication, his entourage wants at least €4M annually plus add-ons. A release clause will also be discussed.
