Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has routinely dismissed the notion of handing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia a new contract since he’s tied to them long-term. However, the recent Victor Osimhen extension heightened the gap between their two stars. It won’t be long before the Georgian’s representatives come knocking again, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The Nigerian ace makes €10M now, while the winger just €1.5M annually. He hasn’t displayed signs of uneasiness, nor has he received inquiries from foreign clubs. His national team’s coach, Willy Sagnol, suggested Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich were after him not too long ago.
If Kvaratskhelia gets going this season, his extension will resume being a topic of conversation with the Napoli hierarchy. His agent Mamuka Jugeli stated after being rebuffed last summer.
“His demands can’t be ignored for too long. We aren’t discussing a new contract because we’re happy with what we have. De Laurentiis is a fantastic person. When and if he’ll consider it suitable, we’ll be ready to talk. Now it’s not the time to think about other big teams.”
Our Take on Kvaratskhelia and Napoli
Increased requests are the natural consequence of handing somebody a rich extension that exceeds the previous boundaries. He should exploit the upcoming stretch sans Osimhen to leave his mark, as he hasn’t been as effective or electrifying as in the past. Still, there’s a chance the new deal of the striker is just a stratagem to set his price for the summer, which would make all its ramifications moot.
