Kvaratskhelia Senior Praises His Son’s Development at Napoli

Georgian wonderkid Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been absolutely instrumental in propelling Napoli to the top of Serie A standings, and his father feels surreal when his surname echoes around the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona – he said in a recent interview.

Speaking to Imedi TV (via TuttoNapoli) regarding his son’s ascendancy as one of Italian league’s brightest young stars, Badri Kvaratskhelia couldn’t hold back his emotions and thoughts.

“When you are in the stands of the Napoli stadium and your surname is shouted by 60 thousand fans, this feeling cannot be conveyed. Especially when it comes to a football player which comes from the Georgian league.”

He then commented on Khvicha’s commitment to bettering himself every day, as he also praised Luciano Spalletti for his man-management skills.

“I have always been convinced that Khvicha would have been able to do well from the start. He doesn’t need any introduction or too many words, he has shown what he can do. There are no groups in the team, there is unity. A friendly attitude is felt. Luciano Spalletti has an excellent relationship with his players. Khvicha goes to training at 8 am. Around 2:00 pm he comes back and rests. He had a day off and we took a walk around town.”

The 21-year-old playmaker, who was close to a Juventus move earlier, is already being linked to top clubs from around Europe, including Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool. However, the senior shrugged off market rumors as hearsay.

“No one has told us about the contract yet. At this stage, Khvicha doesn’t even think about it, he just thinks about playing. Khvicha is informed of the market rumors, but it does not influence him at all.”

Khvicha has 15 goal contributions (7 goals + 8 assists) for the Partenopei in 15 appearances so far since his big league debut.
