Kvaratskhelia Talks Passion of Napoli Fans and Nickname

Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia recounted the journey that brought him to Napoli in an interview with UEFA (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“It was hard for me to believe I would star in the Champions League one day, or that I would join a Serie A team. It all looked like a dream. When I took stock and understood I would reach this level at some point, I told myself I had to prepare differently and get used to a certain type of work. I think I handled it well.”

The Georgian winger commented on the Italian league.

“It’s different from all the other ones I experienced. There are technical and fast players that excel in both phases. The biggest difference is its speed.”

The attacker dished on his nickname ‘Kvaradona.’

“I thought it was incredible to be associated with a legend of that caliber at first. I surely didn’t expect it. It was a big boost for me. I didn’t how to react, whether to be thankful or something else. It makes me happy to be compared to that kind of player.”

Kvaratskhelia praised the Napoli fans.

“People live for football here, and that’s what impressed me the most. I don’t go out much but, when I do, I realize that’s the case. They love it and worship Diego Armando Maradona, who’s everywhere. They breath football.”

The 22-year-old explained why he picked no.77.

“My agent, who’s really more like a family member as I have known him since we were 14, and I have always chosen it together. My favorite one is 7, but it was taken, so we went with this.”
