Lautaro Martinez and Inter on the Same Page Regarding Renewal

Lautaro Martinez has time and again disclosed his intention to stay put in the Nerazzurri colors, having grown into a fan favorite at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza amongst the Inter faithful. “You never know in football, but I can say that I’m very happy to be here,” he said in a recent interview.

As per La Gazzetta dello Sport, Martinez is in line to receive a contract extension by the end of the year. With a deal currently expiring in the summer of 2026, it is expected that Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio will table at least a two-year contract on the table, tying the Argentine sensation to Inter until 2028.

However, priorities lie elsewhere at the moment for the top management, given that Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Federico Dimarco, and Denzel Dumfries are atop their renewal wishlist. The first dialogues have already been established by Alejandro Camano and the club. It is of no urgency to see a deal penned down, as there is ample confidence between the two parties in each other.

Lautaro, who has recently taken over captaincy responsibilities, is set to stay at Inter for the near future and perhaps even down the line, shying away from other big clubs, such as Manchester United, interested in his services.

Our Take on Inter and Martinez

Inter have successfully tapped on an attacking gem in the Racing Club youth product and it is in the best interests of everyone involved that Lautaro jots down a contract extension on paper. However, it might be quite a while before we see that.
