Lautaro Eager to Play in Qatar, Discloses Future Dream

Lautaro Martinez snapped out of his scoring drought with two consecutive great goals versus Barcelona and Salernitana. He rediscovered his best form and is chomping at the bit to play in Qatar, as he told Tyc Sports in an interview (via DAZN).

“I would like for the World Cup to begin right now. You have to play as you always do. If you aren’t as aggressive and constantly think about getting hurt, that might negatively impact your mentality. I try to prove myself and perform as usual anytime I get on the pitch. It’s not up to me to say whether I’m among the best strikers in the world. I’m feeling good right now.”

El Toro dished on his Argentina teammates Angel Di Maria and Paulo Dybala, who recently went down with thigh strains.

“I spoke with the former after the injury, and he was calm. He told me he would recover soon. I hope they both do because they are very important for the national team. We will be competitive because we are preparing well. We proved our worth against the top European sides. I think Brazil and France are the favorites since they have very strong players. We wish to go as far as possible. Lionel Scaloni extending his contract was key. He created a tight group, which is difficult to achieve, and the results prove it.”

Lautaro Martinez would like to finish his career at his first club, Racing.

“It would be a dream for me to return there. I have many good memories on that pitch and of that people, who love me. I can’t say when, but I wish to go back to Argentina and play for them again some day.”
