Lautaro Martinez held a press conference after returning to practice following the World Cup.
“I experienced unique emotions. I looked back at everything I did in the past. It was my childhood dream, but I didn’t think it would be so beautiful. It’s the best, because you play for your country and your people. It was faboulous and thrilling, also for the way it happened. My next goal is to win every trophy I participate in. I rested for ten days, but I also practiced. I’m ready to go and to help if the coach chooses me.”
“I believe Inter can still take home the Scudetto since we are only at the midway point of the season. We dropped some points, but we have a key game coming up. We’ll have to do well and be smart. We’ll also play in Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa in January. Every objective matter to us.”
Martinez was quizzed about what he learned from the Argentina triumph.
“The ability to never give up, even in difficult moments. Matches are long and the strength of the group is important. I want to convey it to my teammates. Many of them played the World Cup, and we have experienced guys that are key to the locker room.”
“After the loss against Saudi Arabia, we talked it out collectively and got back to work as we did in the past three years. Our quality emerged in the comeback versus the Netherlands.”
“The tournament might be more tiring mentally than physically, because want we went through was draining. However, it also gives you strength considering where we are at in the schedule. It’s almost as if a new season is starting.”
