Lazio Ace Cataldi: “Whoever Makes the Fewest Mistakes Will Go To UCL”

Lazio midfielder Danilo Cataldi believes securing a Champions League spot largely depends on which team commits the least amount of mistakes until the end of the league season. Lazio got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Salernitana, thanks to Ciro Immobile’s record-breaking brace, following their loss at home to Atalanta.

“The Champions League race? It’s difficult, it changes constantly. Atalanta came to Olimpico a few days ago and put in a great performance, and today they lost at home against Lecce. Whoever makes the fewest mistakes will go to the Champions League,” said the midfielder after the win in Salerno. (via Calciomercato)

Cataldi then praised Maurizio Sarri for developing him as a player, having experienced a handful of top Serie A coaches before in the Biancocelesti colors.

“Lazio has been my home for many years. I started as a midfielder with coach Pioli, over the years I’ve had less space with coach Inzaghi. Now with the work I’m doing with Sarri’s staff, I’ve grown a lot.”

Cataldi’s Lazio sit fifth in the league with 42 points, one point above Atalanta and two behind reigning Scudetto champions Milan. They are however still in contention for the UEFA Europa Conference League, most recently beating Romanian outfit CFR Cluj 1-0 at home.
