Lazio Ace Milinkovic-Savic Confirmed to Miss Derby della Capitale

Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic will now surely sit out of the game against Roma at the weekend, having reached his yellow card accumulation limit during the 3-1 loss against Salernitana at home. The Serbian was handed a questionable yellow card, drawing criticism from coach Maurizio Sarri and Lazio fans in general at the end of the match.

According to official channels (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the sanction for Milinkovic-Savic has been confirmed by the sports judge. His disqualification from the match will arrive as a huge bow for the Biancocelesti, as the midfield ace has 10 goals contributions so far in the league – with 3 goals and 7 assists – only next to Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The reason behind his exclusion is said to be ‘incorrect behavior towards an opponent.’ However, he is not the only one who will be sitting out.

Adam Marusic and Matteo Cancellieri will also watch from the stands, for ‘protests against the match officials’ and ‘non-regulatory behavior in the field,’ respectively.

The Derby della Capitale is scheduled to kick off on Sunday. The highly-anticipated encounter arrives with the Biancocelesti and Giallorossi sitting beside one another in the Serie A table – with 24 points each – in 5th and 6th place respectively.
