Lazio Also Interested in Blooming Bologna Midfielder

Lazio might touch up their midfield in January, and Maurizio Sarri has indicated Bologna’s Lewis Ferguson as a priority target. He’d contribute to compensating for the departure of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who was replaced with multiple players but with different characteristics.

On the other hand, Bologna don’t want to sell their linchpins in January, Il Messaggero reports. The Biancocelesti are offering Toma Basic in any deal, but it’s not enough to sway the counterparties.

Bologna had the same posture when Juventus came knocking for Ferguson, and his agent quickly announced he wouldn’t leave in the next window, but Lazio could try again in the summer if that held true.

The Biancocelesti are laying the groundwork to snap up Andrea Colpani at the end of the season. A host of teams are tussling for his services, though. Inter appear to be in the lead at this stage.

Our Take on Lazio and Ferguson

He’d be a fantastic addition, as he can fit any midfield and any role thanks to his versatility. The Felsinei aren’t necessarily averse to cashing in on their centerpieces but have usually done it only in the summer and with players who had a year or so left on their contracts, while he’s tied down till 2027. It’ll take a very large offer, and he risks becoming too expensive for any Serie A outfit if he keeps performing as he has done so far.
