Lazio and Sarri Keep Close Tabs on Sampdoria Veteran

With the summer transfer window all but set to open, Lazio are evaluating options to reinforce the attack as Maurizio Sarri is keen on pushing the management into making moves in the market. Racking up the frontline is the absolute need of the hour at Formello, with the departure of Vedat Muriqi leaving Ciro Immobile as the only pure center-forward at the club.

Lazio have suffered without a backup, but latest reports from Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) indicate that the Biancocelesti could aim for a veteran striker to take up arms alongside Immobile in attack. Sampdoria striker Francesco Caputo is one player the Lazio management and Sarri in particular are keeping close tabs on.

Having already been targeted in the previous winter window, Lazio are keen on trying once again for the 34-year-old. The move failed due to the fact that Caputo had already appeared for two clubs this campaign.

Contracted to Sampdoria until the summer of 2024, the veteran has a transfermarkt value of €3m, but it is understood that Sampdoria are ready to welcome offers for half that price.

A two-year-contract is in the picture, amounting to €1.5 net per season.
