Lazio Defender Linked to Inter and Milan Tipped to Stay Put

Luiz Felipe is on an expiring contract and has drawn interest from Milan and Inter. However, Lazio have not given up hopes on coming to terms on an extension. The talks have re-accelerated recently, and the Biancocelesti have good chances of holding onto him, Corriere dello Sport and Alfredo Pedullà report.

The defender had previously stated that he wanted to stay long-term, but the negotiation had lagged. According to the transfer market expert, Simone Inzaghi esteems Felipe but does not see him at the same level as the current starters. The Nerazzurri would look elsewhere if one among Milan Skriniar, Stefan De Vrij, and Alessandro Bastoni left, which is unlikely anyway.

The 24-year-old has landed on Milan’s radar following the injury to Simon Kjaer, but the Rossoneri seem to be prioritizing other candidates. Those two factors give Lazio an upper hand, as he is a sure-fire starter in Rome. The center-back is currently earning €1M per season. The Biancocelesti are willing to bring his salary up to around €2.5M. The management would like to seal the deal in short order to be safe.

In addition, Lazio will keep Adam Marusic even though he has only a few months left on his deal. The parties have an agreement in place for a five-year contract. He will get a decent pay raise too, the newspaper suggests. As for the January window, their priority remains Bodo/Glimt’s Erik Botheim. However, they need to get rid of a few excess players before making an addition.
