Lazio Determined to Keep Ahold of Productive Winger

Felipe Anderson and Lazio have been discussing his extension in recent weeks, and the club wishes to put pedal to the medal to come to an understanding. The Brazilian winger scored his first goal of the season against Sassuolo in the most recent Serie A round.

President Claudio Lotito talked about the attacker to Il Messaggero (via FootballNews24).

“I have no intention to let his contract expire and lose him again. He’s like a son to me.”

The current deal of the winger expires in 2024. Felipe Anderson and his sister and agent Juliana have received offers from Saudi Arabia and other European clubs but have given Lazio the priority.

The parties are bargaining a long-term deal that would tie him down until 2027, perhaps with an option for one further year.

Felipe Anderson has appeared in every match in his second Lazio stint. He had dished four assists before finally hitting the net against the Neroverdi. He has logged 54 goals in 286 total contests with the capital club.

The veteran had previously played with the Biancocelesti from 2013 to 2018 before moving to West Ham for three seasons and then to Porto in 2021.

Our Take on Lazio and Felipe Anderson

He’s still going strong so, unless the Saudi sirens get too loud, the extension will most likely come pretty soon given the expiry date.
