Lazio arithmetically qualified for the Champions League with two matches to go thanks to Juventus’ point deduction Monday. Igli Tare dished on the achievement and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic during a charity event leading up to the Coppa Italia final in Roma (via TuttoSport).
“We had some ups and downs that are part of the equation and allow you to raise the bar. It’s an enormous satisfaction and the fruit of the great job done by the coach, players, and management, which put us in condition to have a quality squad.”
The director admitted the Serbian ace could leave due to his short-term contract.
“For everybody’s sake, we will sit down and settle this matter once and for all. He has a strong bond with the team, which conversely esteems and respects him. Anything can happen, including a sale.”
Tare faces an uncertain future himself since his deal runs out in June.
“Fifteen years in a club is a long time. It’s fair to take stock and make the right decision at the end of a journey. My ideas are clear. I will talk with the president, but we don’t need to clarify anything. Doing what’s best for the side is what matters the most. I will contribute to that.”
