Lazio Earmark Former Sevilla Veteran In Case of Need

Lazio could turn their attention to Isco if they parted ways with Luis Alberto in January. The former Real Madrid midfielder is currently a free agent after leaving Sevilla. The Biancocelesti ace has been trying to orchestrate the return to his home country for years. Cadiz are the latest team attempting to make it happen.

According to La Razon (via Correre dello Sport), the 30-year-old has reached an agreement with La Liga’s club on personal terms. However, president Claudio Lotito wants €20M to let him go. El Submarino Amarillo can cover his wages, but they can’t offer that much.

If Luis Alberto found a team that meets the demands, Lazio could replace him with Isco since they wouldn’t have to pay a fee. The inventive midfielder was linked to Salernitana right after getting released, but the Granata didn’t make progress on the deal. Director Morgan De Sanctis commented to Sportitalia.

“Several agents offered him to us, but none of them assured us of the viability of the deal. Unfortunately, it happens often in football.”

Our Take on Isco, Luis Alberto, and Lazio

The Biancocelesti would have a decent buck to invest if they got their wish and would probably use it on younger players. However, they aren’t deep in the midfield and could always double-dip. They wouldn’t be new to signing veterans. On the other hand, the most likely scenario is that nobody will match what they ask for the ever-disgruntled maestro, so they will have to find a way to coexist peacefully for a few more months.
