Lazio Emerge as Suitors for Villarreal Target Lo Celso

Tottenham outcast Giovanni Lo Celso has appeared on the radars of Lazio for a summer move, Corriere dello Sport reports. The Villarreal target has been pursued by Fiorentina in the recent past, but the Viola opted out of talks for the Argentine. Spurs have already indicated that they want to part ways with the playmaker following his six-month loan stint in La Liga in 2021/22.

The Yellow Submarines remain in pole position to retain his services, perhaps on another loan deal, but the presence of the Biancocelesti shakes things up. Maurizio Sarri’s plans for the upcoming season are taking shape, and the addition of Lo Celso is certain to boost his side’s attacking prowess. Additionally, the potential void in midfield from Luis Alberto’s departure can be filled with the Argentine’s boots.

Lazio have a short window in which they can try signing Lo Celso, who is touted to be courted sooner or later by Villarreal in the coming days. He reportedly agreed to personal terms with the former Europa League champions earlier last week. Ex-Arsenal coach Unai Emery is leading the charge to bring him back to the club.

The Biancocelesti will need to act fast and more importantly make an offer Tottenham can’t refuse if they are to lure the former Paris Saint-Germain man. Italy already got a taste of the his abilities during the Albiceleste’s 3-0 win over the Azzurri in the Finalissima back in June at the Wembley Stadium.
