Lazio Eye Alternatives as Talks with Romagnoli Stall

Lazio are no longer certain to win the race to sign Alessio Romagnoli. They have begun searching for other options to bolster their defense. It also remains to be seen whether Francesco Acerbi will indeed depart due to his row with the fan base. His long-term contract, salary, and age do not facilitate his transfer.

The Biancocelesti will lose Luiz Felipe at the end of his contract. Instead, they made an offer to Patric, who is also on an expiring deal. According to Corriere dello Sport, they have expressed interest in Gian Marco Ferrari. He is under contract with Sassuolo until 2024. He would be a safe option considering that he has been rock-solid in the last few seasons. However, he is 30.

Lazio have laid their eyes on younger candidates too should they miss out on Romagnoli, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays. They are pursuing Johan Vasquez, who has fared decently since joining Genoa despite his team’s struggles. The Grifone signed him for €4M. He would not be expensive if they got relegated. The Biancocelesti are keeping tabs on Nice’s Flavius Daniliuc and Zurich’s Becir Omeragic. He was on Milan’s radar in January. He has multiple strong campaigns in the Swiss league under his belt but also dealt with a few injuries.

According to TuttoSport, Lazio proposed to Romagnoli less than Milan. The defender is at ease with the Rossoneri and has not entirely ruled out the possibility of staying put. However, he would like to be a starter, which is unlikely to happen there.
