Lazio are keeping a close eye at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and have reportedly established a backup in midfield if Spaniard Luis Alberto leaves in the next transfer window. Chief Claudio Lotito has already made it clear that he wouldn’t let him leave on a loan deal, but with irregular playing time under Maurizio Sarri, Alberto could very well be leaving the club.
As per La Gazzetta dello Sport, Japan midfield ace Hidemasa Morita is one of the names that has emerged in the sights of Lazio. The Biancocelesti are prepared to lose Alberto soon, and Morita, who was instrumental in Japan’s run to the quarter-finals of the World Cup, might just be the next addition to the team.

Morita currently plays at Sporting CP in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, where he has a contract until the summer of 2026. He has a market value of €10M and is a viable target for the Biancocelesti.
Morita will however not be the first Japanese player to star in the sky blue colors.
